Tinibu and Odumegwu at Ruto/Macron’s summit

The Africa Forward Summit could benefit Nigerians in 3 main ways, based on what was discussed and announced:

*1. More investment + better financing terms*
Nigeria was one of the countries represented by President Tinubu. The summit’s main push was to fix how global markets “price risk” for Africa.

Right now Nigeria gets charged higher interest on loans because credit agencies label it high-risk. If the summit shifts that narrative, Nigeria could borrow cheaper for infrastructure, power, and business expansion. That’s the “tangible outcome” Ruto and Macron kept repeating.

*2. Tech, AI, and digital economy partnerships*
Macron and Ruto pushed Africa-Europe tech cooperation as a way to avoid dependence on US/China tech. For Nigeria, that means:
– More partnerships in AI, fintech, and digital infrastructure
– French firms like Orange are already active in Nigeria, so expect more deals in telecoms and digital services
– Focus on youth and entrepreneurship – Macron met young entrepreneurs at the summit

*3. Trade and infrastructure deals*
While the big $700M Mombasa port deal went to Kenya, the summit was framed as opening doors for all 30+ countries there. Nigeria’s side usually means:
– Easier access for Nigerian exporters to European markets under new partnership frameworks
– More French investment in energy, agriculture, and manufacturing. TotalEnergies is already a major player in Nigeria’s oil/gas sector
– Clean energy and blue economy projects, which Nigeria has been pushing for in the Niger Delta and coastal regions

*The catch*: The summit itself doesn’t give money directly. It’s a platform for deals and policy shifts. The benefit for Nigeria depends on follow-through by the Tinubu admin and Nigerian businesses to secure the partnerships.

Aliko Dangote was there too, so expect private-sector deals to come out of it in the next few months.

From the recent video of Tinubu’s arrival in Nairobi for the Africa-France Summit, *Bianca Ojukwu was part of the Nigerian delegation that received him at the airport*.

*What happened:*
– She’s now Minister of Foreign Affairs, appointed by Tinubu in April 2026.
– In the footage from Nairobi, she and Daniel Bwala were among those on ground to receive Tinubu as he landed.
– The video title frames it as a formal reception. Just doing her role despite party difference, which makes it her first official role with Mr president on mission since becoming a foreign affairs minister.

She’s been acting as Tinubu’s envoy on diplomatic issues – like the Ghana-Nigerians deportation row – and publicly praised Tinubu’s UK visit as a “strategic reset”.

So at the Nairobi airport, her role was official: receiving the President as Nigeria foreign affairs minister. The first on foreign mission since assuming office.

With Odumegwu at the fore front of the major sector of the government of the day, Biafra may suffer a big come back.

The major ice is, the summit if well harness will serve as a good ground for Africa, Nigeria and their France partners.
